River

The Noguera Pallaresa river passes through Sort, a tributary of the Segre river, which is famous for being one of the main rivers in Catalonia.

The Noguera is well known for the variety of activities carried out, such as kayaking, rafting, canyoning or hydrospeed. As it receives water from other rivers and torrents that flow into it, the flow becomes stronger, making it one of the best rivers for practicing whitewater sports.

This has led to it being proclaimed a Sports Tourist Destination by the Generalitat of Catalonia.

The Noguera Pallaresa river rises in Pla de Beret, in the Aran valley, a few meters from the source of the Garona river. Unlike its sister river, which heads towards the Atlantic Ocean, the Noguera Pallaresa initially heads northeast through the municipality of Alt Aran, passes through Montgarri, and crosses Pallars to the south, first Pallars Sobirá (passing through the towns of Esterri d’Àneu, Llavorsí, Sort and Gerri de la Sal), and after crossing the Collegats gorge, the Pallars Jussà (passing through the towns of Pobla de Segur and Tremp), where the Ecripta and Flamisell rivers join it after pass Pobla de Segur.

Mountain

The Pyrenean region of Pallars Sobirà is surrounded by large mountains, which form the Alt Pirineu Natural Park.

Within this environment, we can find well-known locations such as the Aigües Tortes National Park, the Estany de Sant Maurici or the Pica d’Estats, in addition, there are a large number of peaks that exceed 3000 meters.

Thanks to this, it is an ideal space to practice adventure sports such as climbing, hiking, bicycle routes, mountain biking, horse riding or excursions to the high mountains.
